Impression: “Light filling a small space”
This exhibition features twelve works that I refer to as “Memories of Light,”* including representative pieces from the series Other Days, Other Eyes and The Rings of Saturn, which have also been exhibited at the Pola Museum of Art, Pola Museum ANNEX, and Yokohama Civic Gallery Azamino.
Though I had seen most of the pieces before, viewing them in an exhibition space bathed in spring sunlight revealed how their appearance changed with the shifting light. This made for a compelling installation where the pieces and the exhibition space became one.

These artwork titles are a combination of series name + object name + subject.
- Examples of series names: Other Days, Other Eyes, The Rings of Saturn, etc.
- Examples of object names: “Window,” “Scope,” “Magnifying Glass,” etc.
- Examples of subjects: “Saturn,” “Candle,” etc.
*As far as I could find, the phrase “Memory of Light” is not used in the artist’s biographical text. The word “memory” is used in phrases such as “the memory held by things” or “the memory of time gone by.” Therefore, I refer to these works collectively as the “Memory of Light” series.
