Review
1.Overview
The Color Skopar 25mm F4P is a wide-angle lens with a VM mount from Cosina Voigtlander.
The previous model, the Snap Shot Skopar, was a visual measurement lens that was not linked to the rangefinder of the Leica M-type rangefinder, but this lens has been renamed Color Skopar and is linked to the rangefinder.
The lens barrel design has changed from the previous model’s simple but conical design to a simple stacked cylindrical design. The focus lever and aperture change lever are designed to match the design taste of the Nokton 40mm and 35mm.
The lens configuration is the same as the previous model, with 5 groups and 7 elements.
The minimum shooting distance is 0.5m, and the rangefinder coupling range of Leica M-type rangefinder cameras is up to 0.7m.
The filter is a screw-in 39mm filter. The lens hood is the same as the previous lens and can be used with the LH-1.
As of 2024, production has ended and no successor lens has been released.
2.Usage
Because the lens construction is the same, the image quality is no different from the Snapshot Skopar 25mm.
One change from the Snapshot Skopar is that the minimum shooting distance has been shortened to 0.5m.
As a result, when using an EVF on a mirrorless camera, it is possible to shoot from 0.2m closer than the 0.7m with the Snapshot Skopar.
The finger grip on the focus ring on the lens barrel has been enlarged, making it easier to focus the lens.
3.Differences
Carl Zeiss uses lenses with a focal length of 25mm for the Leica M mount. Leica and Ms-optics use lenses with a close focal length of 24mm.
The following three lenses have a focal length of 25mm, and the advantage of the Voigtlander lenses is that the lens barrel is more compact than the Carl Zeiss lenses.
