This time, we’ll introduce how to visit art museums in the surrounding area, starting from Tachikawa.
Near Tachikawa Station, you’ll find PLAY!MUSEUM and Tamashin Art Museum, and many public art installations are displayed around Faret Tachikawa.

From Tachikawa Station, you can travel to Fuchu Station to visit the Fuchu Art Museum, or to Kodaira City to visit the Hirakushi Tanaka Museum, among others. Alternatively, you can travel from Tachikawa Station to Hachioji Station to visit the Hachioji Yume Museum, the Murauchi Museum, and the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum.
Detailed directions
From Tachikawa Station, PLAY!MUSEUM and Tamashin Art Museum are about a 10-minute walk north. Along the way, you’ll pass Faret Tachikawa, where you can enjoy public art.
Tamashin Art Museum is a participating museum in the 2026 Gurutto Pass program, and with a valid Gurutto Pass, you can view one exhibition for free.

From Tachikawa Station to Hachioji Station, take the Chuo Line towards Takao; it’s 3 stops and about 10 minutes.
From Hachioji Station to the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum, several buses depart from the north exit of Hachioji Station, so check the schedule before using. The Tokyo Fuji Art Museum is a participating museum in the 2026 Gurutto Pass program, and holders of a valid Gurutto Pass can view one exhibition for free.
From the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum to the Murauchi Art Museum, you can take a bus, but as shown in the diagram below, it’s only about a 15-minute walk. If the weather is nice, walking along a pastoral road will get you there.
From the Murauchi Art Museum to the Hachioji Yume Museum, take the bus from the Murauchi Furniture Access bus stop (opposite the Murauchi Art Museum) to the Yokamachi 4-chome bus stop. However, the bus only runs once an hour, so it’s recommended to check the timetable before traveling. If you want to return directly to Hachioji Station, you can use the free shuttle bus exclusively for Murauchi Art Museum.
Hachioji Yume Museum is a participating museum in the 2026 Gurutto Pass program. If you have a valid Gurutto Pass, you can view one exhibition for free.
