My impression: “A permanent exhibition space for the artist themselves.”
“THE HIRAKO HOUSE TOKYO” opened on March 12, 2026, on the 3rd floor of TERRADA ART COMPLEX-II, about a 10-minute walk from Tennozu Isle Station on the Tokyo Monorail or the JR Rinkai Line.
As part of an event related to Art Fair Tokyo, I participated in the “Yuichi Hirako Viewing Room Visit” held at “THE HIRAKO HOUSE TOKYO,” where I heard an explanation from the artist about the significance of establishing this viewing room and the works on display.
The purpose of creating this space is to realize the desire to allow more people to appreciate the works stored in the warehouse. The production studio and storage location are difficult to visit casually, and preparing for public viewing is also a lot of work. Therefore, this space was established as a place where anyone can easily visit and appreciate the works at any time.
The exhibition space consists of two rooms. One is a large room for displaying large-scale three-dimensional works, currently exhibiting “Wooden Wood 74,” which was first shown at the “IDEAL LANDSCAPE Yuichi Hirako Exhibition” at the Nagi Museum of Contemporary Art in 2024.
This work toured Gallery Bton in Seoul, South Korea, and the Keelung Art Museum in Taiwan, and was stored in Hirako’s warehouse. It is now being exhibited as the opening piece.
The works in this large room are scheduled to be changed every few months.
The photo below shows Mr. Hirako (left) explaining “Wooden Wood 74” and Mr. Toshihiro Terauchi (right), who planned this “Yuichi Hirako Viewing Room Visit.”

Another area is a room at the back of the large hall that serves as both a display of smaller works and a shop. The exhibited works include drawings, paintings, and sculptures of various sizes, all displayed generously and making for a very worthwhile visit.

The shop offers a variety of Yuichi Hirako original goods, including limited-edition tote bags and sticker sets, as well as relatively inexpensive items such as catalogs, postcards, T-shirts, and canned cookies, and more expensive items such as large rugs and Nambu ironware objects. Purchases are placed in a paper bag with a charm. I received a postcard and stickers when I purchased the catalog.
The exhibition area also features a pinball machine where you can try your luck for 500 yen per play. Inserting 500 yen and turning the dial launches a ball containing a figurine. If the ball lands near you, you receive a figurine of the color it was inside. Furthermore, if the ball lands in the hole in the center of the machine, you receive a limited-edition figurine.
The photo below shows Mr. Hirako rescuing a ball that has gotten stuck on a stake.

Summary
The large exhibition room allows viewers to appreciate the artwork from 360 degrees, creating a space for in-depth engagement with each piece. In the smaller works corner at the back, visitors can browse Hirako’s diverse range of works and find their favorites.
