1.カメラ概要

The Leica M-P typ240 is a minor change to the Leica M typ240.

For a basic review, please refer to the Leica M typ240 page.

The differences between the Leica M typ240 and the M-P typ240 are as follows:

  1. Removed the red badge on the front
  2. Added the Leica logo to the top cover
  3. Changed the LCD cover glass to sapphire glass
  4. Added a viewfinder frame selection lever
  5. Increased the camera’s buffer memory from 1GB (the previous M typ240) to 2GB

2.Usability使用感

When the Safari version of the Leica M-P typ240 was released, I really wanted to use it, and for the first time, I bought a camera that cost over 30,000 yen, including lenses.

I traded in my M typ240 and several lenses that I already owned at a camera shop on the map, and added cash to buy the camera. This is a typical example of desire running wild.

The M-P typ240 has the viewfinder frame selection lever that was removed from the M typ240. The viewfinder frame of the M-type Leica automatically changes the display depending on the length of the lens claw, but if the length of the claw does not match the actual focal length of the lens, you can manually switch the viewfinder frame if the model has a selection lever. It is a piece of equipment that is better to have than not, but when I was manually switching the viewfinder frame in the M6 era, the switching part came off inside the camera and I was unable to switch, so I did not want to experience a similar incident with the M-type digital, which tends to be expensive to repair, so I did not touch this lever.

In terms of the camera’s specifications, the number of continuous shots that can be taken has increased due to the increased buffer memory, but since I have only taken photos with the original M typ-240 buffer, which I have never had any problems with, I have never felt the benefit of this increased buffer capacity.

I traded in the Leica M-P Safari along with the limited edition Summicron 35mm that came with it when I purchased the Leica M10. Since the M10 did not fit my hand, I ended up buying the silver M-P again, so in hindsight I wish I hadn’t bought the M10, but you can’t realize the truth about anything until you actually use it.

3.Summary

In conclusion, to sum up the LEICA M-P Typ240, there is no big difference between the LEICA M Typ240 and the conventional model in terms of shooting functions.
The increased buffer capacity has almost no effect because this is not a continuous shooting camera.
The choice of the M-P type is largely determined by preference for the exterior.

Leica P model

The P model of the M-type Leica was used as the last number of minor change versions of M-type Leicas, such as the M4-P during the era of the film M4 camera, the M-P which was a name change of the M6TTL, and the M9-P, M-P, M10-P, and M11-P after the advent of digital cameras.

The only difference between the film M4 and M4-P is the addition of 28mm and 75mm to the bright frame, and there is no difference in the camera’s performance. The P model in the digital era is also a change in the exterior and some updates to the camera functions, and there is no essential difference between the cameras.

The table below summarizes the differences between the original and P models in the digital M.
