Review

The Hasselblad HC 150mm is a medium telephoto lens for the Hasselblad H series. Lens specifications are introduced on a separate page.
This review focuses on its use with the LEICA S Typ007.
When using the Hasselblad HC 150mm with the LEICA S Typ007, the 35mm equivalent focal length is 120mm.
The combined weight of the lens and camera is just over 2kg, and since the volume of the camera and lens is larger than that of a typical SLR camera, it feels quite heavy.
The 120mm equivalent focal length is an easy-to-handle focal length for a medium telephoto lens, and since it provides the compression effect of an actual focal length of 150mm, it is well-suited to portraits and other shots where the subject is centered. The lens also produces beautiful, smooth bokeh in the foreground and background, making it effective at making the subject stand out.
My HC 150mm is an older lens that doesn’t have an orange dot, and I can use autofocus with the LEICA S-series cameras by using the LEICA S-Adapter H. However, as is common with HASSELBLAD H-series lenses, the autofocus focusing speed is slow, and the camera’s autofocus unit is old and not very accurate, so in the field I only use it for still life photography such as flowers.
When focusing manually, it is preferable to use a Microprism Matte, but since this focusing screen is specialized for focusing in the center, there is a risk that the results will be monotonous.
This non-orange dot lens cannot be used with autofocus on HASSELBLAD X-series cameras such as the HASSELBLAD X2D. More details on this situation are provided on the linked page.
The minimum focusing distance is 1.3m, and since extension tubes cannot be used with the LEICA S, close-up photography is difficult. Therefore, I often use this lens with the HASSELBLAD X-series cameras, which can use extension tubes.
