Birdwatching Report

The Pola Museum of Art’s forest walking trail can be explored before the museum opens. If you arrive before 9 AM (the museum’s opening time), you can park your car and stroll through the forest. As of March 2026, parking at the Pola Museum of Art costs 700 yen.

From winter to spring, the area is ideal for birdwatching due to the fallen leaves. Because there are many small birds, a focal length of around 500-800mm is desirable for photography. The following photos were taken at a 240mm equivalent, and the results have been cropped.

Wild birds observed on the forest walking trail at the Pola Museum of Art

  • シジュウカラ/Japanese Tit
  • ヤマガラ/Varied Tit
  • コゲラ/Japanese pygmy woodpecker
  • キビタキ/Narcissus Flycatcher

Wild birds observed at Fuji Buddhist Stupa Peace Park

  • イカル/Japanese Grosbeak

I managed to take decent photos of four species: the Great Tit, Varied Tit, Japanese Pygmy Woodpecker, and Japanese Grosbeak. I only observed the Narcissus Flycatcher.
