Review
The Voigtlander Apo Lancer 90mm is a medium telephoto lens that allows close-up shooting up to 0.5m.
The 90mm focal length of the Cosina Voigtlander SL series was released in 2010 as the successor to this lens, the SLII, which included a close-up lens. As of 2023, it is sold under the name Apo Scoper, which has a completely revised lens concept. The Apo Scoper is a compact lens with a total length of 41mm that places emphasis on portability, abandoning the conventional macro lens route.
I purchased the M42 version of Apo Lancer 90mm and used it with SIGMA SD9, SD10, SONY α700, α900, PENTAX K20D, etc.
I bought the K20D, which I used in the example, to use the M42 lens comfortably, but the viewfinder didn’t fit as well as the α series, so I sold it quickly after using this lens and a few more lenses. For me, this is a valuable example.
The reason I didn’t use this lens much was because the Macro Apo Lanter 125mm was convenient for macro photography. Also, I think this is because when it comes to snap shots, I often use Ultron 40mm or Color Heliar 75mm.
The round hood (LH-75S) and square hood (LH-75) are common to Color Helier 75mm, Apo Lancer 90mm, and Apo Lancer 80mm. The LH-75, which has a crepe finish, has a nice texture and can be found on the used market for around 10,000 yen, so I think that the price changes greatly depending on the hood included.
