Review
The Leica C-LUX typ1546 is a Panasonic OEM compact digital camera released by Leica. The original camera is LUMIX DMC-TX2.
In the past, Leica compact digital cameras and Panasonic compact digital cameras had some differences in design, but with this camera, most parts are the same, and the only difference is the color. The other difference is whether you feel Leica’s red badge is worth the premium.
It is a compact digital camera with a 1-inch sensor, the same large sensor and high-power zoom camera as the Sony RX100 series, and has a focal length of 28mm to 360mm, exceeding the previous Leica C.
A while ago, this zoom range was mainly available in large integrated lens cameras called neo single-lens lenses, but I’m impressed by how compact they have become.
In order to make it a compact camera, the lens design seems to have gone unreasonably, and the wide-angle side of the developed raw image is particularly distorted. Therefore, there is little point in shooting in Raw, and a corrected JPEG image will suffice. I also think that 360mm at the telephoto end is affected by camera shake, but I don’t think I’d want to use it too much because the depiction is smooth and the images are sweet. In that sense, it doesn’t feel like the image stabilization OIS is working.
The battery life is satisfactory, and you can take about 300 photos on a full charge, which should be enough for a day’s shooting. The EVF is larger and more detailed than the previous model, but I don’t think it looks particularly good. The shooting distance is 3cm to ∞ on the wide-angle side and 1m to ∞ on the telephoto side, which is sufficient for general photography.
I carried it with me when I went to Akita in the winter, and it came in handy when I didn’t want to take out the M-type Leica because of bad weather, and when I wanted to take snapshots of the city.
Even though it was smaller, it was still too big to fit in my breast pocket, and I decided to sell it because the image distortion and sweetness made it difficult to use as a second camera.
