Leica Q2 is a compact digital camera released by Leica in 2019.

There are no major changes other than the increased number of pixels in the normal evolution version of Leica Q.
The lens has almost the same specifications as the Leica Q, and this Summilux 28mm F1.7 is of sufficient quality to withstand 47 million pixels.

The basic functions of the body are the same as the M10-R, except that it does not have a rangefinder, and the selling price including the Summilux lens, which allows you to get close to up to 0.3m, is quite a bargain if it suits your purpose.

When I use it, I experience the AF failure phenomenon that was seen with the Leica Q quite often, so I have to check the EVF to adjust the focus position. The EVF’s pixel count remains the same, but the display panel has been changed to an organic EL display, but I didn’t feel it was a big improvement compared to the Leica Q’s viewfinder.
The EVF’s diopter adjustment dial has been improved, and when you want to change it, you push out the control dial above the button, and then push it back in after changing it. This is a good improvement as it eliminates the need to change the diopter due to erroneous operation, but I feel it would be smarter to adjust it internally using the menu like on the Hasselblad X2D. As long as the same photographer continues to use the EVF, once the EVF’s diopter is adjusted, it will not need to be changed over and over again.

The Q2’s image crop function has increased to 3 types, 35mm, 50mm, and 75mm, as the pixel count has increased to 47 million pixels. The results of cropping at the specified size are still recorded only for JPEG images, and the method for recording raw images at full size 28mm remains unchanged from the Leica Q.

The lens has an image stabilization mechanism, so even with the high pixel count, I rarely suffered from camera shake.
It’s good that the battery is now BP-SCL4, which is shared with the Leica SL series, and it’s also good that the battery capacity is larger than the Leica Q’s BP-DC12, so you can take more pictures. However, the BP-SC series battery is expensive to obtain because there are no compatible batteries.

The rectangular lens hood released by LIM’S Design, “Aluminum LENS HOOD for LIM’S LEICA Q2/Q,” has the same quality as the genuine product, although it is expensive, and I used this combination until I parted with the Q2.

From Q2, the Leica LEICA Q2 Monochrome exclusively for monochrome has been available.
