Impression
It is a very lightweight zoom lens that covers a full-size sensor and has a 3x zoom range, starting at 20mm at the wide end of the zoom range and ending at 60mm.
Unfortunately, there is no image stabilization on the lens side for a dark lens, so cameras such as the LEICA T and LEICA CL, which do not have image stabilization on the body side, will suffer from camera shake in slightly darker areas.
In this case, the light weight of the camera is a disadvantage, and the shutter shock can easily induce blurring.
When using an APS-C camera, the lens does not use the periphery of the lens, so you will not feel a large amount of blurring.
The range of the lens is from 30mm to 90mm, which is the range of zoom lenses used a long time ago, but this depends on how the lens is used.
The minimum focusing distance is 0.15m on the wide side, which is relatively usable for table photography, but care should be taken to avoid camera shake in a dark store.
This lens was widely marketed as a bundle lens for the LUMIX S5, and used stock of this lens can often be found, probably because owners who no longer use it have been selling it all over the used market. And it is inexpensive.
The monthly production of 50 units mentioned in the press release for this lens is a sad figure, and it shows how difficult Panasonic’s camera business has been. While Sony has made a great leap forward with mirrorless cameras, Panasonic, which has been flying low, would be happier to be behind the scenes with Sigma and Leica. I will continue to watch Panasonic’s camera business, where they are headed, as the words “exit” keep coming to mind.
The design of Panasonic’s S lenses is not so bad if you look at the lens performance alone, but it is very hard to make people want to use the lenses outside the camera.
