A short report on using the SONY α330 with the Voigtlander COLOR HELIAR 75mm F2.5 SL lens.

This time, the lens used was a modified Voigtländer Color Heliar 75mm f/2.5 SL for A (α) mount.
The camera itself is a 12 cm cube, measuring 13 cm wide, 10 cm high, and 11 cm deep. It weighs 763 grams, which is standard for a digital SLR camera.
About Photo example
These photos were taken on a slightly cloudy evening. When I first took out the camera, I was surprised that the shutter wouldn’t fire because I hadn’t read the manual. Sony cameras have a menu setting that allows you to turn “Release without lens” ON or OFF. I looked for this setting on my camera, but it doesn’t have that option. Of course, manual focus lenses without electronic contacts can be used. The α330’s introduction page details the method for using them.
Example 1 was taken with the lens set to the minimum focusing distance of 0.75 m and the widest aperture of F2.5. The contrast between the white petals and the black background is beautiful.
Example 2 was taken with the lens set to the minimum focusing distance of 0.75 meters and an aperture of approximately f/4. In close-up photography, the difference in bokeh between the widest aperture and F4 is negligible.
The last example shows how distant landscapes are rendered. The image was somewhat flared and blurry at the widest aperture, so the aperture was stopped down to approximately F5.6. Stopping down the aperture enhances the uniformity of the resolution across the entire screen. Combined with the slightly longer 75mm focal length and APS-C-size sensor, there is no distortion or blurring at the edges, resulting in satisfying image quality for a prime lens.
