Review
This lens was sold as MINITAR 1 at a second-hand store. It has a rugged design that is clearly different from the MINITAR-1 released by lomography, and weighs 189g, about three times heavier than the 55g of the lomo version, making it heavy for a small lens. The mount is an L39 mount, but there is no interlocking mechanism with the rangefinder, so the lens seems to have been made in recent years for mirrorless lenses. Infinity is correct and there is no problem with focusing accuracy as long as the EVF is used.
Compared to Lomo’s Minitor, this lens has a more classic look, so it is assumed that the lens was made by assembling an LC-A or LC-A+ lens into the lens barrel.
The distortion of the image is peculiar, and the lens may not be suitable for color photography, as it causes a loss of contrast even when not backlit, and the auto white balance produces clearly strange colors. The monochrome image seems to have a good taste, but since the rangefinder is not linked to the lens, there is a concern about the focus.
This lens has a handmade feel to it, and while it is interesting in a way that ordinary lenses are not, I think I would get tired of it very quickly.
The lens appeared on the used market in 2023, and since the serial number is stamped, it seems that a certain number of lenses were produced, and in addition to the 14* number of this lens, the 12* number were also seen on the used market.
The price also seems to vary depending on the seller. Personally, I purchased this lens for 30,000 yen (tax not included), so I feel satisfied with the quality and price, but I feel that the price is too high for a lens priced around 50,000 yen.
