Review

The D-LUX typ109 is a Panasonic-OEM compact digital camera, and is a brother camera to the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX100 with a different exterior and firmware.
Black was released on November 28, 2014, and solid gray was released about a year later in December 2015.
The shooting distance is 50cm to infinity, and it has a macro mode that allows you to get as close as 3cm.
The battery is BP-DC15 and is compatible with Panasonic’s BLG-10.
The recording format is JPEG, RAW (the RAW format is Panasonic’s RWL format).
A limited edition called the “Leica D-LUX “RSJ Edition”” has also been released.

The JPG images are well-corrected and I don’t notice any distortion. There are some focal lengths where distortion is noticeable in Raw.
It covers 24mm to 75mm in 35mm format, so it can be used for landscapes, street snapshots, table photos, etc. Since it uses a 16-megapixel Four Thirds sensor, there is no problem with resolution at a distance.
The EVF has a decent number of dots, but it doesn’t look that good. Since the AF is reasonably reliable, I think it’s better to use it to capture the moment at that moment, rather than taking a picture with the EVF.

There was something a little strange about the solid gray body I got secondhand, and even when I entered the serial number in Leica’s product registration, I couldn’t register it. I don’t know about Leica product registration as I haven’t registered it recently, but back in 2016, if someone had previously registered a used product, it would say “This product is already registered” and could not be registered, but this camera In this case, a message like “This serial number cannot be recognized as a product.” was displayed and registration was not possible. When we contacted Leica about the fact that the product could not be registered, we received a comment that our company was not involved in products with product numbers that could not be registered. Did a prototype leak into the market for some reason? I’m not sure if Leica doesn’t properly manage OEM products, but it’s strange.
Additionally, I have seen a product with a different rear exterior than the one I owned, so this is a camera that has led to some strange occurrences.
